COLOR BLOCK BORO Silk Dress
Asymmetrical color block silk dress. Patchwork with hand dyed silk pieces.
-Extended shoulders with v-neck .
-Loose fit shift dress with slight A-line flare.
-Made with medium weight crepe de chine silk with elegant drape and matte texture.
-Autumnal jewel tone of peacock green, light blue and brick red against black and charcoal.
All silk piece used were hand dyed multiple times creating rich and nuanced colors.
-Inspired by "Boro" textile, (traditional Japanese patchwork clothings worn by farmers, merchants and other working folks) various shades of silk pieces were artfully sewn together to create this one of a kind dress.
-Hand washable, no need for dry clean.
-US women's size medium (see below for measurements).
-Made one at a time in our NY studio.
-Pure silk is light and breathable but it can also be surprisingly warm when layered.
Feels heavenly on bare skin in summer or layer it for more cooler seasons.
-Please note, unevenness/striation of the colors are characteristics of hand dyeing process and are not defects. Variation of colors gives this dress its distinct look.

Launched in 2011 in NYC, XSILK is a artisanal design & craft studio focusing on hand dyed and hand painted textiles. XSILK produces garments and accessories using time-tested traditional processes with a modern sensibility. Each piece is crafted individually, and often is a one-of-a-kind piece.
Headed by Dani Song, XSILK got started with a simple goal - make beautiful things well and responsibly. All products are made and dyed locally in New York City. XSILK dyes in a eco conscious way by using the safest method of dyeing available to reduce waste and leave less carbon foot print. XSILK leather goods are made with leather hand dyed with natural indigo using “Katazome” technique. Katazome is a traditional Japanese dyeing method using hand cut stencil, rice glue(dye resist) and natural indigo.
XSILK operates on "made-to-order" mode of production so to keep their waste to minimal.
